Idaptive Named a Visionary
Idaptive is named a Visionary in the Gartner 2019 Magic Quadrant for Access Management.
This week, Gartner released its annual 2019 Magic Quadrant for Access Management[1] report, and we are thrilled to be positioned as a Visionary. We believe being named a Visionary is an important validation of our unique identity and access management platform, our ability to serve a diverse set of enterprise customers, and our commitment to innovation in the access management space.
You can read the details in the full report here.
In our view, being positioned in the Visionaries quadrant reflects the alignment between our product vision and Gartner’s view of how the access management market will evolve. According to Gartner, “Vendors in the Visionaries quadrant provide products that meet many AM client requirements, but they may not have the market penetration to execute as Leaders do. Visionaries are noted for their innovative approach to AM technology, methodology and/or means of delivery.”
We think Idaptive is a perfect fit.
Specifically, we believe that our comprehensive approach to identity and access management has helped us gain this position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.
Idaptive is the only company to provide a complete end-to-end solution that combines SSO, adaptive MFA, contextual endpoint and mobile security, and user behavior analytics. This approach to access management adds a layer of intelligence which helps companies verify and validate users, devices, and services while continuously learning from, and adapting to, millions of risk factors.
Report insights
This year’s Magic Quadrant for Access Management evaluated 14 vendors for their “Ability to Execute” as well as their “Completeness of Vision.” It’s important to note that among the vendors included in the report, Idaptive was mentioned as one of only five vendors to deliver Access Management as a pure software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering. According to the report, “90% or more of clients based in North America and approximately 65% in Europe and the Asia/Pacific region countries are seeking SaaS-delivered models for new AM purchases”[2]. This demonstrates a clear preference shift among prospective customers towards SaaS benefits, such as agility, quicker time to new features, and reduction of supported infrastructure, over benefits provided by traditional software-based solutions.
In addition to fully committing to the SaaS delivery model, we believe, Idaptive continues to invest in capabilities that support customers with non-standard, legacy, and on-premise applications. In the report, Gartner states that these applications “may be difficult to convert to standards-based SSO, and products from traditional software-based access managers can provide some additional flexibility to support proprietary application integration techniques. There are also situations where jurisdictional regulations and political concerns may limit adoption of services that cannot host data exclusively within a jurisdiction, or that are operated by foreign companies.”[3] Idaptive can extend the benefits of SaaS-delivered Access Management to these customers with App Gateway – a simple add-on that enables secure, behind-the-firewall access to any on-premises applications or data without a VPN.
Finally, the report stressed the importance of adaptive access controls and integrations of Access Management solutions with third-party sources of risk context information. We believe Adaptive Access Management goes beyond rule-based conditional authentication and evaluates access requests for contextual risk.
To this end, Idaptive already provides an intelligent, multi-factor authentication service that applies machine learning to assign a risk score to each access request based on historical user behavior and other context. Additionally, Idaptive recently announced an important strategic partnership with Palo Alto Networks. With this partnership, customers are now able to leverage threat intelligence data collected in Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex Data Lake to make more precise, risk-based access decisions.
Looking ahead
We are grateful to our customers and partners who participated in this research and gave us their vote of confidence. We are committed to building the best identity and access management platform for our customers and will continue to expand our services.
